Florida Parenting Plan — Starter Template

Governing law: Fla. Stat. § 61.13

This starter parenting plan tracks the elements required by Fla. Stat. § 61.13(2)(b). Complete every section before filing; the court will not accept a plan that omits the statutory factors.

1. Parental Responsibility

Florida presumes shared parental responsibility. Indicate any decision that is reserved to one parent and the factual basis for that reservation (e.g., domestic-violence finding under § 61.13(2)(c)2.).

  • Education decisions: ☐ shared ☐ Parent A ☐ Parent B
  • Non-emergency health care: ☐ shared ☐ Parent A ☐ Parent B
  • Religious upbringing: ☐ shared ☐ Parent A ☐ Parent B
  • Extracurricular activities: ☐ shared ☐ Parent A ☐ Parent B

2. Timesharing Schedule

Specify the regular weekly schedule and the start time and exchange location for each transition. The schedule must address overnights and is the basis for the child-support guidelines worksheet.

  • Regular week: __________________________________
  • Pickup/drop-off location: ______________________
  • Transportation responsibility: __________________

3. Holidays, School Breaks, and Summer

List each holiday, the rotation (odd/even year), start and end times. Florida courts disfavor 'as agreed' for holidays; specify a default.

4. Communication Between Parents

Designate the methods and technologies under § 61.13(2)(b)3. The parties shall use CoParent Circle for all non-emergency communication concerning the child(ren), including scheduling, expense exchange, and school/medical information. Each parent shall maintain an active account and check the app at least once every 24 hours.

5. Communication Between Parent and Child

Phone, video, and text access during the other parent's timesharing. Specify times and reasonable duration.

6. School Designation and Activities

Identify the school-zone parent for purposes of school assignment and the parent responsible for registering the child for activities.

7. Health Care

Primary medical, dental, mental-health, and vision providers. Insurance carrier and policy number. Procedure for selecting new providers.

8. Shared Expenses

Categories beyond basic child support that the parties will share (uncovered medical, extracurriculars, school fees), the percentage split, the reimbursement window, and the receipt-submission method. The parties shall submit and approve shared expenses through CoParent Circle.

9. Relocation

Acknowledge that any relocation greater than 50 miles requires compliance with Fla. Stat. § 61.13001, including written consent or a petition to relocate served at least 60 days in advance.

10. Dispute Resolution

Before filing a contempt or modification motion, the parties shall attempt mediation with a Florida Supreme Court certified family mediator, except where domestic violence is alleged.

11. Modifications and Court Records

Modifications require a substantial, material, and unanticipated change in circumstances. Records generated by CoParent Circle (date-ranged PDF/CSV with chain-of-custody manifest) shall be admissible subject to ordinary authentication and Fla. Stat. § 90.902(11).
